Does the MUMAQ buy works of art or antiques?
The MUMAQ, like many museums of its size, does not currently have a budget for acquiring works of art. In general, objects added to the collection come from donations, bequests, or transfers.
How does the MUMAQ choose what it acquires?
The Acquisitions Committee meets twice a year (fall and spring) to evaluate the offers of donations received. It makes recommendations to the Board of Directors, based on the museum’s acquisitions policy, mission, and current collection.
Can the MUMAQ appraise works of art or antiques?
The MUMAQ does not appraise works. We work with professional appraisers for donations of $1,000 or more. The donor must pay for the appraisal.
What is the procedure for making a donation proposal to the museum?
To make a donation proposal, please fill out the following form (PDF) and send it with photos of the work to: conservation@mumaq.com
How do I make an exhibition proposal to the museum?
Please send your CV and a letter detailing your exhibition project accompanied by a photo folder to:
programmation@mumaq.com
Note that our exhibition calendar is completed one to two years in advance.
