A Word From the Director
I am very proud to present this unique and invaluable museum, the MUMAQ, which today is finally part of the natural crafts ecosystem. As a bridge between communities, eras, cultures, and above all the know-how of artists and artisans, it establishes a new dialogue to strengthen human ties and broaden our collective culture.
The transformation of the Musée des maîtres et artisans du Québec is a major step in the Québec museum world: with its new name, modern brand image and the presentation of its new permanent exhibition, the MUMAQ allows us today to appreciate the history of Québec’s crafts better than ever before.
A place for disseminating ideas and putting on themed exhibitions, a hub of cultural and educational activities for a variety of audiences, the MUMAQ offers professionals and artisans a space for knowledge and influence as well as an inexhaustible wealth of references and research. A unique experience in a unique place. A new pride to share with as many people as possible.

Mission
The MUMAQ, the Musée des métiers d’art du Québec, attests to the expression of a unique and creative people.
Reflecting the cultural diversity of Québec, from Nouvelle-France to today, it highlights what can be achieved by working with one’s heart and hands, for the benefit of the community.
In this way, we acknowledge the importance of preserving and sharing the traditional know-how of artisans to assert our identity. Here, we present an evolving art inspired by our heritage and inscribed in our vision of the future.

Canadian Museums Association's 2022 Award for Outstanding Achievement in Exhibitions for the new permanent exhibition Meaningful Objects: a History of Craft in Quebec
Canadian Museums Association’s 2015 Award of Outstanding Achievement in Conservation for the construction of the new museum reserve.
