Two Artworks, One Savoir-Faire
From October 29th to November 8th, 2026, the Benefit Auction returns for its 12th edition, online and in-person.
Glass artist Patricia David explains in her own words why she is participating in this year’s MUMAQ Foundation benefit auction:
Whenever I have the opportunity to enter this magnificent building, which invites introspection, I reflect on my own personal journey, which spans from craftsmanship to the visual arts. This place represents that undefined zone between what we consider art and what we consider craft, and shows us that these boundaries are purely political constructs shaped by an elite eager to set itself apart from the common people. It is a place that demonstrates that the useful is beautiful and that the beautiful is useful, while highlighting the rich history of artistic and artisanal creation in Québec.
As an artist and artisan, it is a tremendous honor for me to participate in the MUMAQ Foundation’s auction so that it can continue its mission of showcasing and promoting Quebec’s visual arts and crafts.
